Frequently asked questions

Does the GIF include sound?

No. The GIF format itself cannot carry sound. If you need audio, use the MP4 or WebM converter instead.

How should I choose the frame rate and width?

Pick 10fps and 320px to keep the file small, or 20fps and 640px for smoother motion. The defaults are 15fps and 480px.

Why is my GIF file so large?

GIF is an old format with low compression efficiency. The same footage can be much larger as a GIF than as an MP4, so short clips and lower frame rates are recommended.

Why do the colors look different from the original?

A GIF can use at most 256 colors per frame. The conversion builds a palette to approximate the colors, so they may differ from the original.

Is my video sent anywhere?

No. Your file never leaves your device. The conversion runs inside your browser and nothing is uploaded.
